Balboa Volleyball Team

Here’s a project I’ve been working on for a few months for Balboa Middle School in Ventura. There are two designs for the two teams from the school. This was a challenging project because most of my work is not focused on doing an individual’s likeness. The drawings had to resemble the players so some of them had to be re-drawn a few times to get it right. I would like to thank Coach Mike for the opportunity to work on this project.

Reflections…

Reflections in the water. Wall-eyed Walleye’s jug floats gently in the pond.

Starting…

Ok, it’s been a while, I was gone for nearly 5 days on a little surf trip to Mexico. Came back and just haven’t had a lot to say really. But, it’s time to get back to work!

Finished the piece I had been working on (pics will be coming) and decided to start this one, which has been percolating in the back of my brain for a while. For the time being the working title is:”Walleyed Walleye”.

I normally don’t show a piece on the internet until it’s finished and I have good, clear image to show. But I’m gonna break tradition and record the progression of Walleyed Walleye.

The start…a pencil drawing and thin layers of acrylic in transparent washes over the pencil marks.

Day 2, added some darker colors in the foreground and filled in Walleye’s face a little more, also changed his body structure some of the color on the water:
